The path to gender-responsive competitive sports,

Yawn? No – really substantial! The greatest growth potential lies in women’s sports. Soccer has long recognized this and is investing millions in this future market.

But the sport of Frisbee goes one step further. Where else are there exclusively Mixed Championships, like at the World Games in the USA? Women and men form one team.

The Erasmus instructions for the teams are available online. Anyone who reads it will have their eyes opened! Competitive sports are still a male-only domain, the top players and earners-an all-male show. But women are catching up! It’s about redirecting women who have been doing sports for a long time – into competitive sports and offering them new opportunities there. Questions of principle are addressed in the program. What are the expectations for athletic performance? How can group discussions proceed? The pyramid of violence will be presented and also how European neighboring countries are proceeding on their way to more gender justice, with practical case studies.

If women’s sports are the market of the future – what can Ultimate and Disc Golf clubs do to get in on this? For sure, this includes female trainers, female networks, a new image of women. Very committed to gender equity and inclusion is the EUF ( Ultimate Federation Europe)

There is already a gender-balanced distribution of top positions on the Board of Management. For the EUF, inclusive programs are a priority.

The Gender Equity Guide was adopted and funded by the Erasmus+ Initiative in 2020 and is officially scheduled to be completed now, in October 2022. Nevertheless, it should continue to live and grow after this date. The EUF aims to create a legacy and platform for all issues related to DEI.

We were on site at this year’s Club Ultimate European Championship (EUCF) in Caorle, Italy. The large airfield with hangar had space for 15 open air fields. We had our mobile printing tent with us. This allowed us to print all the winning discs with names just-in-time right before the awards ceremony. The weather was unpredictable, the games were partly interrupted by heavy rain. Trendy disco sounds from the loudspeaker next to us ensured dancing enthusiasts, good mood and variety around the stand. In front of the erected EUCF banner, we were able to directly capture the mood, take pictures and then print and distribute individual Frisbees. A welcome benefit for the players.

Over 1000 players from all over Europe met in Caorle. Fought in the open division, mixed and women with up to 24 teams.

In the open division, Ranelagh (Ireland) beat Clapham Ultimate (London) in the final, with CUSB La Fotta (Bologna) finishing third. The best spirit ratings Open received Devon Ultimate Gentle Open and Ranelagh.

In the women’s teams, CUSB Shout (Bologna) beat YAKA (Paris) in the final. Bristol Women came in third place.

We have been there! For the first time in 3 years the German Junior Championship in Ultimate Frisbee took place on September 17th and 18th. In 3 classes 10 teams each fought for the title “German Champion”. On a great weekend with great Ultimate Frisbee, TV Bad Rappenau prevailed in the U14 class. In the U17 FC Haunstetten won through with their team Juniorvolves. In the U20, Team Pizza Volante from Leipzig took first place.

eurodisc® was present with its own booth. Like all championships of the German federation, we supported this tournament with our game discs.

The Frisbeesport-Landesverband Hessen (FSLVH) has set itself the task of supporting the German Frisbeesport Association (DFV) in achieving a main goal-membership in the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). As a basic requirement for admission, at least 10,000 DFV members must be proven. Both active and passive members are counted.

Membership in the German Olympic Sports Confederation not only sounds great, it also brings many advantages and funding opportunities for players, coaches, clubs and associations. In addition, Frisbee would be recognized as an official sport in Germany. Definitely a goal for which every commitment is worthwhile.

About the competition

The Hessian club with the highest registered membership increase in the DFV-MV in 2021 wins the main prize. But all other participants also have the chance of winning. A price is guaranteed from an increase of 10 members!

Frizbi svet – an initiative of Matic Kuselj – started in 2020 with the platform https://frizbisvet.si/ and the goal to promote the sport of Frisbee in Slovenia. Matic shows extraordinary commitment in Slovenia to bring the world of Frisbee closer to the people. With various projects like the School Ultimate League or teambuilding events, he wants to strengthen the cooperation with local companies, teams and schools and especially inspire young people for the fairest team sport in the world.
